While thousands of applications have a variety of Android and iPhone users to choose from, students at California Baptist University narrowed it down to their top five choices.

Apps are arranged in different categories. These include utilities, entertainment, games, news, productivity tools, search tools, social networking, sports, travel and weather. Here are a few suggested apps that have made the list decided by CBU students:

1. Instagram

According to instagr.am, “Instagram is a fun & quirky way to share your life with friends through a series of pictures. Snap a photo with your iPhone, then choose a filter to transform the look and feel of the shot into a memory to keep around forever…We imagine a world more connected through images of what happens around them – whether through friends or people across the world.”

Alaina Gutierrez, junior, said, “As a photographer I love to share my daily look abouts through using instagram and being able to see others is always great inspiration.”

2. Draw Something

Apple.com describes the app as, “…the most popular social drawing and guessing game in the App Store…”

Some might agree that this app is a definite laugh-out-loud game sure to intrigue its viewers.

“My sister got me into it to see if I have skills and how my art looks,” Raven Schmaderer, sophomore, said. “We have fun tricking each other and using our creative skills.”

3. Voxer

Voxer was described to be “a vision to make voice communications more useful,” according to Voxer.com. Voxer is available for iPhone and Android.

This app is treated like a walkie-talkie, which makes for an entertaining alternative to talking on the phone.

4. Pandora

This free, personalized radio only plays music relative toward its users.

“I love Pandora, it’s amazing,” Stephanie Reid, graduate, said.

Many might agree music is integrated into their life in some way. Utilizing this app is advantageous to staying updated with favorite upcoming artists in any genre.

5. Facebook

This is a social networking app with which even non-iPhone and non-Android users are familiar. With millions of users already using Facebook, this app is sure to help connect people with old, new or current friends.
