Sports win early in fall

California Baptist University’s fall athletic teams have had a good amount of success so far in their seasons, and they are looking to continue in the same manner for the remainder of their seasons.

Women’s volleyball started its season at 3-1 in the Route 92 Tournament, Sept. 5-6, in Hayward, California.

After hosting the Great Northwest Athletic Conference PacWest Crossover a  week later, their record was 5-4 before going into a game against Fresno Pacific and sweeping them for a victory.

The women’s soccer team has a record of 3-4 and recently defeated Dixie State University for the Lancers’ first PacWest victory.

The men’s soccer team started off its season in a double overtime thriller against the University of La Verne. The Lancers are 2-4-1 and are looking to gain some momentum as they go on a long road trip to face teams in Hawaii, from Oct. 4-16.

Cross country is off to a good start as the women took first and the men took second at the Lancer Invitational in Rancho Jurupa Park, Sept. 6.

The men’s water polo team has already faced tough Division I opponents such as the University of California at Los Angeles and Brown University. The team has an 8-5 record.
