This October brings a new chance for students to dine at an easy-to-reach location.
A new food option located at the Health Science Campus on Monroe Street, currently unnamed, will be joining the ranks of Provider Food Services locations at California Baptist University.
According to Kipp Dougherty, director of food services, students can expect food similar to Wanda’s and will be able to use both dining dollars and meal swipes.
“(It will be) similar to Wanda’s except more sandwiches, flatbreads, grilled items,” Dougherty said in an email. “Grab ‘n’ go, espresso drinks and ice-blended drinks.”
Students received an email from University Card Services offering a $500 Campus Store gift card prize in return for naming the new dining facility.
The contest closed July 10 and will be announced soon.
The new dining facility will bump the number of food options for students up to eight and will join Monroe-to-Go as neighbors on the Health Science Campus.
Dougherty said the grand opening will be the middle to end of October.
“It’s fast, fresh, delicious and convenient,” she said in response to what people can look forward to most about the unnamed facility.
Evan Weinmeister, junior healthcare administration major, said the new location will be especially helpful for him as back-to-back classes at the Monroe Street campus can make it difficult to walk across to the Alumni Dining Commons or Campus Xpress, especially with only 15-minute breaks in between classes.
“I’m going to start starving,” Weinmeister said. “It’s going to be amazing when it comes here.”
