California Baptist University’s state-of-the-art recreation center opened Jan. 14 following a dedication ceremony featuring Chris MacArthur, city council member of Ward 4, Alex Wright, Associated Students of California Baptist University president, and Dr. Micah Parker, director of athletics.
Dr. Ronald L. Ellis, CBU president, ended the dedication ceremony with the official ribbon-cutting.
The recreation center features a rock climbing wall and changeable court space with room for two intramural basketball courts or three volleyball courts. In addition, the space includes lounge areas, racquetball courts and workout rooms. The roof is also available for use with a running track and a soccer field covered with synthetic turf.
The facility will be open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to midnight, Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to midnight.
CBU students, faculty and staff will be admitted with a CBU identification card and a current semester sticker.
The recreation center’s mission can be found in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “Honoring the Lord with our bodies.”
