New York Fashion Week has come to showcase the upcoming looks for spring 2015, and trends for this spring are appearing in stores.
Fashion retailers look for creative ways to duplicate trends from the runway at a price affordable for college students.
While floral patterns for spring may not seem ground-breaking to most fashion enthusiasts, designers such as Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture, Alexander Wang, Topshop and Valentino are incorporating these floral patterns into their designs this spring.
For those looking to update their wardrobe this spring, patterned blouses as seen on Juicy Couture’s ready-to-wear collection can be found for a college student’s budget in stores such as H&M, Zara, Target and Forever 21. Cargo jackets, chunky knit sweaters and jumpsuits are trends for this spring and can be found in these stores, as well.
In shoes, Alexander Wang’s Kori cutout heel — or as we know it, the ankle boot — has survived for a few fashion seasons because of its versatility.
More affordable ankle boots can be found in stores such as Aldo, Target, American Eagle Outfitters, Urban Outfitters, PacSun and Nine West.
White is in for the season and can be incorporated into students’ wardrobes. From fringed pleated skirts to ruffled tops, students on campus can follow trends and add their own twist to them.
Dark colors such as navy blue and forest green are also in for the season, though spring is typically known for bright, vibrant colors.
“I like the colors periwinkle and mauve for this upcoming season. As for trends, I think flowy fabric pants or shorts and loose tank tops are in,” said Andrea Baugh, freshman undeclared major. “I personally like shirts that show off the back a little.”
For men, minimalistic style has inspired designers such as Marc Jacobs and Rag & Bone in their ready-to- wear collections. Menswear is more about the key pieces and how to look fashionable ev- erywhere. Slim-fit shirts and jogger pants have made their way from runways to fashion retailers such as Guess, H&M and Armani Exchange.
For a more casual look, striped sweaters and cardigans paired with darker bottoms have made their way to the top trends for spring 2015.
No matter the season, every individual can add a unique twist to express style.
