Hockey season is officially upon us and students from California Baptist University have begun predicting how this season of the National Hockey League is going to play out.
Shane Fleming, junior business administration major, said he can not wait to see what rookies can do because the NHL had a good draft class this year.
“Some of the lower level teams have big names this year,” Fleming said.
He predicted some of the division leaders this season will include the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers and Anaheim Ducks.
Fleming also predicted the Stanley Cup final will consist of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Ducks competing against each other, with the Penguins winning.
“The Penguins picked up Phil Kessel this year as a blockbuster deal from the Toronto Maple Leafs,” he said. “He won’t feel as much pressure this year and will have more of a chance to play the game his own way.”
Allyson Caruso, freshman nursing major, said she is excited for the season to start.
“I can’t wait to watch the games with family and to go to the games,” Caruso said.
