One hundred and seventy prospective students of California Baptist University attended Lancer Night, April 10 to finalize their decision on whether CBU is the college for them.

Students toured the CBU campus to discover what the school could bring to their college experience and were able to get to know CBU’s community on a personal level.

CBU faculty and staff played an integral role in Lancer Night, helping possible students find their way around and become acclimated to a college campus.

Lancer Night included a tour of the university, a reception and a dinner for the students, as well as a fair showcasing different departments on campus.

Dustin Lowe, director of Undergraduate Admissions and participating planner of the event, said Lancer Night is held for admitted students.

“This event is really to help students decide if this is really truly the school they would like to go to,” Lowe said. “These are accepted students so they are making their final decision before May 1.”

Lowe said staff wanted this to be an event that finalized the question of which school students would decide to entrust with their education.

“Students are trying to decide if this the place I want to begin ‘writing my story’ for my education,” Lowe said. “Writing their story is the theme of the night.”

Sierra Dominguez,  potential future student, said her mother is the one who initially encouraged her to go and she was glad she followed through with attending.

“CBU was not my first choice,” Dominguez said. “Then as soon as I stepped on campus, I fell in love.”

Students were able to engage with current students and faculty while observing the campus atmosphere.

Dominguez was positive about her experience at CBU and her interaction with other CBU students as she toured the university.

“Everyone is just so nice,” Dominguez said. “And I love that it is Christ-centered.”

Lancer Night continues to be a lasting experience that impacts possible students‘ decision to attend CBU and is a tradition that will continue to take place.

Students can look forward to these future students joining the CBU family in the fall and semesters to come.
