California Baptist University’s Community Life hosted the spring club fair in Stamps Courtyard on Feb. 3 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Wind-blown students passed by the club-themed table displays in order to learn about various areas of interest or getting more involved on campus.
Clubs related to major, industry or cause welcomed those in attendance to sign-up to learn more about guest speakers and special events. Club membership is open to all students regardless of declared major.
Senior Chris Cox of the Investment Club explained that while typically business students choose to enroll in Investment club, it is a good opportunity to learn about finance.
“If you don’t want to work for the rest of your life then you should learn how to invest your money. Everyone should learn about retirement,” Cox said.
Film Appreciation Club described its up-and-coming events.
Junior Trevor Merrill, founder and president of Film Appreciation Club said, “Film club is exploring the topic of beauty and the definition of what it means to be beautiful.”
The project is meant to connect students on campus and learn about different people’s perceptions of capturing beauty on film.
According to senior Maria Roque, “The Health Science Club plans events that cover the general basis of any health profession students are interested in.”
The club seeks to foster a community environment between health science and biology majors. Students have the opportunity to listen to medical professionals or visit local schools offering medical programs such as Western University in Pomona, Calif.
Roque explained that joining the Health Science Club prepares students for the next step in entering graduate school or the work force.
New this semester, Snow Club promises to engage students interested in skiing and snowboarding trips to Big Bear. Transfer student Daniel Valdez was surprised CBU did not have a snow or winter sports club on campus, and decided to help form one.
“All skill levels are welcome from beginning to advanced,” Valdez said.
The Criminal Justice Club has a busy spring schedule with a tour of Paton State Hospital on April 13 and a beach bonfire on April 20. Members also get the opportunity to attend shooting range events and learn about handling firearms.
Club representatives urged students to sign-up, even if they may not come to all the meetings.
