COLONY FOOD SERVICES EXPAND
California Baptist University residents now have another option when looking to quench their hunger. Mimicking Briscos’s Café, food tents have been set up within The Colony to serve lunch and dinner. One swipe with a CBU I.D. card can provide students one entrée, two sides and a beverage. The food service is located near The Colony gazebo and pool. Monday through Friday lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
NEW HOME FOR ARC, NURSING LABS
The Academic Resource Center has moved from its previous location in James 166 to James 204. The ARC’s hours are Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The area that used to house the ARC is now home to two physics laboratories. The physics labs on the second floor of James have been remodeled into a wet lab.
NEW HOME FOR NURSING
An area of University Place is once more open for California Baptist University students. Used before in previous years, the University Place 10 apartments will now serve as home for CBU nursing students. The decision was made to open the facility once more to house nursing majors because of its close proximity to the School of Nursing and nursing department faculty offices. The complex can hold around 30 residents.
RIVERSIDE MOST INTELLIGENT CITY
Riverside was named the No. 1 Most Intelligent Community in the world June 8. After a series of rounds and constant judgment to see if it met every requirement, Riverside received the honor for its strong investment in initiating change and following through with every started project, making sure the entire community was involved and took a part in technology. Riverside was awarded the top title after entering the competition for the last two years and remaining in the top seven.
CAMPUS PARKING CHANGES
In light of a fall enrollment of more than 6,000 students, parking on California Baptist University’s campus is facing an adjustment. Starting this fall, a student living on campus will only be allowed to park in the lot assigned to his or her residence complex. Commuting students can park in the Billie and Eugene Yeager Center parking lot and the lot behind the Wallace Book of Life Theater. Staff members will be assigned spots at off- site lots, including Lancer Plaza and those owned by Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church. Parking permits are given out through the Department of Public Safety and will be enforced.
COLONY SECTIONS RENAMED
The Colony residential apartments are now separated into three sections: Colony North, Colony East and Colony West. Three separate staffs of resident directors, graduate assistants and resident advisors now manage the different sections. Breaking up the buildings allows for a manageable number of residents for staff members and greater resources for residents, said Daron Hubbert, director of Residence Life.
