For the 2014 Major League Baseball season, both the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Los Angeles Dodgers are in great positions to make a run for the playoffs.
When asking most Angels fans about the team they dislike the most, their answer will most likely be the Dodgers. It can be looked at as the same for the Dodgers as most of them dislike the Angels as well.
The Angels are leading the American League West with the Oakland A’s chasing right behind them. The Dodgers are leading the National League West with the Giants slowly trying to catch up, as well. Both teams know what they must do to keep up steady solid play heading into the playoffs.
California Baptist University is home to many Angels or Dodgers fans, and getting predictions and thoughts from students can be telling.
Robbie Eachus, senior kinesiology major, said he appreciates both teams.
“I feel both teams have a great opportunity to make it to the World Series,” Eachus said. “For the Angels, they will have to go through a lot of great pitching staffs to make it. But I feel they have the lineup to overcome any adversity. For the Dodgers they will have to stay healthy in the end.”
Even though he had an opinion for both teams, Eachus had a clear favorite.
“As for the World Series, it would be exciting to see a freeway series with the Angels winning it all, of course,” Eachus said.
Jorge Moreira, junior kinesiology major, is a Dodger fan and said he believes the Dodgers have the edge.
“They have momentum and the best pitcher in baseball with Clayton Kershaw,” Moreira said.
Even with his love for the Dodgers, Moreira acknowledged one great player from each team.
“I enjoy watching both teams because of the exciting players like Yasiel Puig and Mike Trout,” Moreira said.
Overall, both teams are poised to make a run and it will be an exciting thing to witness.
