Raising Cane’s is set to open Oct. 31 on Magnolia Boulevard.
The popular chicken-strip fast-food restaurant is opening five miles away from California Baptist University. Raising Cane’s offers chicken-strip meals with side options of cole slaw, Texas toast-style bread, fries and a specialty sauce called “Cane’s sauce.”
Fans of the food chain call themselves “Caniacs” and are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the restaurant in Riverside.
“Caniacs” often camp out on grand openings of Raising Cane’s locations with the hope that they will be rewarded with celebratory food giveaways.
With the closest Raising Cane’s location being in Orange County, near California State University Fullerton, some CBU students are excited to try something new.
“Raising Cane’s is going to make a great addition to our community. It’ll be a perfect date spot, located right by Castle Park,” said Antonio Guevara, freshman biology major. “I’m excited to try Raising Cane’s because I’ve never had it before, but I always hear really great things about it.”
Though the arrival of Raising Cane’s in Riverside has some students excited and ready to join the “Caniac” fandom, some students say they feel indifferent about the restaurant’s arrival in Riverside.
The company is looking to hire approximately 110 employees at the Magnolia location. The application can be found on their website. Raising Cane’s is called “One Love” by the owners of the company because they claim their one love is to cook chicken in their restaurant.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring our one love to another part of California,” said Cheryl Reed, area director for Raising Cane’s, in a statement about the food chain’s arrival to Riverside. “We’re looking forward to assembling a great crew and supporting the schools and other organizations throughout the local community in the months ahead.”
Raising Cane’s has 240 locations spread across 20 states already with more restaurants under construction. The Riverside location will be California’s sixth Raising Cane’s location.
“I can’t tell you what a thrill it is to finally bring our one love to the residents of this beautiful area,” said Todd Graves, founder and CEO of Raising Cane’s.
