Summer is behind us, and colder weather brings exciting fall events. California Baptist University’s Community Life has kept students’ schedules packed with fun activities this semester. Emilee Thomas, assistant director of campus activities, highlighted some upcoming events students can look forward to.

“Students should get excited for Friendsgiving, Merry & Bright, and Yule because these events offer the perfect blend of community bonding, festive celebration, and cultural tradition, creating memorable experiences that enrich their college life and provide a great way to connect with other students at the end of the year,” Thomas said.

Community Life has made these events easy for students to attend. Thomas explained how students can participate in Friendsgiving, Merry & Bright, and Yule.

“Students can use a meal swipe or purchase a ticket for Friendsgiving. Merry & Bright is free, and Yule requires a purchased ticket,” Thomas said. “Tickets can be purchased in the Community Life Lounge on campus.”

Mia Detken, sophomore kinesiology major and student worker for Community Life, encouraged students to attend Yule.

“Students should come to Yule because it’s an amazing tradition where students can dress up and go out—this year to Jazz Kitchen—and enjoy time with friends as an end-of-the-semester event,” Detken said.

Yule, an annual tradition held toward the end of the fall semester, is set for Dec. 7 this year.

Dawn Wolfe, junior elementary education major, shared her perspective on Yule.

“Yule is honestly one of the things I look forward to most at the end of the fall semester, especially since it’s right after finals,” Wolfe said. “I feel like more people should consider going because it’s a great way to destress after finals and connect with others.”

Community Life dedicates significant time to planning and executing events for students. Visit the Community Life Lounge to find affordable activities designed to build connections. Upcoming highlights include Yule on Dec. 7 and CBU Christmas on Dec. 7-8 at varying times.
