Nick Vujicic, evangelist and motivational speaker, has built his ministry around sharing how faith shaped his perspective on life after being born without limbs. His story has become the focus of a new documentary exploring faith, adversity and purpose.
California Baptist University students were invited to an advance screening of “No Limbs, No Limits: The Nick V Story” on Sept. 14. Before the screening, Vujicic spoke about his story and the message behind the film.
The documentary explores Vujicic’s childhood, faith and decision to share his experiences with audiences around the world.
“I think what people need to understand at CBU is that God can use you. So whatever gifts and talents you have and whatever job you actually have, in the end, it’s always a ministry,” Vujicic said.
Vujicic reflected on the role faith played during difficult periods in his life.
“When circumstances are way beyond you, but that’s where you see God, his shoulder, you being able to lean on him and him breaking through those clouds for you one day at a time,” Vujicic said.
The film gave students an opportunity to reflect on their own faith and how they approach challenges.
Nathan Aguilar, senior finance major, reflected on the message he took away from the film.
“The film has helped shape my morals and ethics in anything I do, whether it comes to my personal life or work life. I strive to be as Christ-like as possible. Giving people the grace and kindness God has shown me, Nick Vujicic encouraged me to approach life with greater passion,” Aguilar said.
The film’s message resonated with students in different ways, including through their own experiences with faith and perseverance.
Samantha Frias, junior psychology major, connected the film’s message to her own experiences with faith.
“During difficult times, my faith has pushed me to overcome trials because I have the knowledge and comfort that the one who defeated death and overcame it all is with me and will not leave me. Even during a season where I feel far from God, He is right by me,” Frias said.
“No Limbs, No Limits: The Nick V Story” explores more than Vujicic’s experiences living with a physical disability. The documentary follows his childhood, the challenges he faced growing up and the experiences that shaped his faith and sense of purpose.
Vujicic’s story presents audiences with a message centered on faith, determination and purpose. His visit encouraged students to reflect on how their own experiences and abilities can be used to serve others.
