Twenty-one California Baptist University International Center affiliates had the unique opportunity to absorb some American culture by being part of the “America’s Funniest Home Videos” studio audience Sept. 17.

AFV has viewers erupting with laughter as they watch the nation’s funniest moments caught on film.

Bryce Erickson, International Center intern and sophomore intercultural studies and international studies double major, co-planned the recent event with Justin Park, graduate assistant at the International Center.

The event united international and domestic students and gave them the opportunity to take part in a unique experience.

“It wasn’t just a first for international students but for myself as well,” Erickson said. “It was a lot of fun and a great way to experience something new.”

Never experiencing an event like this in the past, Erickson and other the International Center affiliates were pleased with the turnout.

“There were students who grew up overseas who watched AFV (as kids), so it was great to be able to experience that with them,” said Tiffany Hamilton, graduate assistant for the International Center.

For many participants, this was their first time attending a live show. Nan Xiao, working towards her master’s in education, is from the northwestern part of China and said this was a new experience for her.

“I had great fun that night because it was my first time attending a live show,” she said. “The final moment (where they chose the top video of the night) was my favorite part. It was really exciting.”

The International Center staff said they had a great time and hopes to be back in the studio audience soon.

The episode CBU’s International Center participated in will air Nov. 3.
