Excitement filled the air as business students from California Baptist University filled the auditorium at the Robert K. Jabs School of Business for the Welcome Back bash held Sept. 10.
Booths from each concentration lined the walls as each department advertised their specialization.
Dr. Andrea Scott, dean of the School of Business, opened the night and welcomed both new and returning students to the event.
“The main thing we want students to know is that we’re glad you’re here,” Scott said. “We want you to feel like you have been called here and you’re supposed to be here and we are happy to be a part of that.”
Dr. Robert Jabs, the namesake of the School of Business, came to the event to show his support for the growing school.
“This is a great event where students can come and see their friends and socialize and learn from each other,” Jabs said. “I just learned that one student’s part-time job is an auctioneer and so a lot of students have really interesting jobs. We’re blessed to have these people as part of the university who are working for God in amazing ways.”
The night included a slideshow and a raffle for various CBU swag including a School of Business backpack.
Returning and graduating students showed up to reconnect with friends and faculty members.
Michael Riad, senior business administration major who graduates at the end of the fall semester, was just offered a full-time position following his summer internship.
“The School of Business really showed me how to effectively network, which is a big part of the success of CBU,” Riad said. “We have great staff and faculty who really helped me connect with the right people and that led to my internship with Pepsi.”
Other events for the School of Business this semester include the Alumni Mixer on Sept. 25, The Faith and Enterprise starting Sept. 27, and The Myth Busters Lunch and Learn on Dec. 3, The semester concludes with the Senior Send-off on Dec. 4.
